Abpi Code 2024 930X930

Ordering physical copies of the 2024 ABPI Code of Practice

The ABPI Code of Practice sets out the requirements the industry must comply with and supports companies’ commitment to self-regulation and to operate in a professional, ethical and transparent manner.

Physical copies of the 2024 ABPI Code are now available to order and will be shipped out from 14 October.

When ordering, we make the following requests, which are intended to move to a more sustainable way of distributing the ABPI Code, and keep costs down.

  • If you can download and print out your copy of the 2024 ABPI Code of Practice please do so.
  • Please don’t order more copies than you need, or order copies for clients.
  • If your company is likely to need multiple copies, please can you refrain from placing an individual order. Instead, we ask you to liaise with your relevant colleagues, and place a company-wide order as far as possible, which will then be fulfilled.
  • We are no longer providing printed copies outside of the UK. We ask that anyone from non-UK-based organisations either use the downloadable version on the website, or have their physical copies ordered via the UK affiliate.
  • At this point, we are not offering the ability to pay for the ABPI Code to be sent overseas.
  • Your cooperation is very much appreciated.

You can find more information on the 2024 Code, including a range of supporting materials, on the PMCPA website.

The updated 2024 ABPI Code of Practice seeks to raise the high standards expected of pharmaceutical companies even further while also ensuring that complaints can be appropriately resolved more quickly.

Three key sets of changes in the 2024 ABPI Code of Practice are:

  • an update to how prescribing information can be provided (Clause 12);
  • a new ‘constitution and procedure’ for the PMCPA;
  • elements of the ABPI Code moving from guidance to mandatory requirement

The 2024 ABPI Code of Practice comes into effect on Tuesday, 1 October 2024. During the period 1 October 2024 to 31 December 2024, no material or activity will be regarded as being in breach of the ABPI Code if it fails to comply with the new requirements of this edition. However, the PMCPA will start to operate under the new constitution and procedures from 1 October 2024, including the abridged complaints procedure. The 2024 ABPI Code of Practice will then come into full force on 1 January 2025.

The updated mandatory template for disclosure agreed for the 2024 ABPI Code must be used to submit the 2024 data to Disclosure UK by 14:00 GMT Friday, 28 March 2025.
