Sustaining the skills pipeline in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries

A report from the ABPI finds that the UK’s traditional strength in science is eroding, science graduates are lacking practical skills useful to industrial research and that urgent action by a range of partners is required to arrest this decline. The study, the result of a six-month analysis by the ABPI Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) Education & Skills Taskforce, recognised Government commitment to science, but hlighted particular shortages in chemistry, clinical pharmacology and in vivo biology.
