Fulfilling the potential identified in the Government’s Life Sciences Vision

The UK Government’s ambition for medicines manufacturing, as set out in the July 2021 Life Sciences Vision (LSV).

While acknowledging the UK’s historic strength in Life Sciences innovation and medicines manufacturing, the LSV also recognised the significant reduction in medicines manufacturing capacity over the last 25 years. Since 2009, production volumes have fallen by 29% and over 7,000 jobs have been lost.

Reversing this decline and fulfilling the ambition set out in the LSV is the core focus of the Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership (MMIP), which represents the voice of medicines manufacturers in the UK.
