ABPI welcomes AAC annual report and new Chief Executive
The Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) has published its annual report and confirmed Matt Whitty as AAC Chief Executive.
We’ve still got more to do, and the appointment of Matt Whitty as Chief Executive will help the AAC realise its ambitions to go even further in spreading innovation at the pace and scale we all want to see. Haseeb Ahmad
We’re committed to supporting the AAC to go from strength to strength and to help make the UK the best place in the world for patients to access the latest treatments. I look forward to working with Matt and his team to deliver on this ambition. Richard Torbett
Achievements in the report include the fact that 700,000 patients have been provided with access to proven health and care innovations, resulting in estimated patient benefits of over 12,000 fewer hospital admissions and 125,000 fewer days spent in hospital. Across the AAC programmes, this work has saved the NHS over £50million.
In response, ABPI President Haseeb Ahmad said:
“This report demonstrates just how important the AAC is in getting more ground-breaking treatments to patients.
“As a member of the AAC Board, I have seen first-hand how bringing together all parts of the health ecosystem can help patients access the new medicines and health technologies and the NHS realise the benefit of this innovation.
“We’ve still got more to do, and the appointment of Matt Whitty as Chief Executive will help the AAC realise its ambitions to go even further in spreading innovation at the pace and scale we all want to see”.
ABPI Chief Executive Richard Torbett said:
“Many congratulations to Matt Whitty on his appointment as Chief Executive of the AAC.
“His appointment comes on the day where the AAC progress report sets out just why the AAC is so critical for the NHS and in getting the latest medicines to patients.
“We’re committed to supporting the AAC to go from strength to strength and to help make the UK the best place in the world for patients to access the latest treatments. I look forward to working with Matt and his team to deliver on this ambition”.
