Number of biopharma enterprises operating in the UK

In the UK, the biopharmaceutical industry represents an important sector for economic growth. The number of pharmaceutical enterprises has been increasing since 2010.  According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), by 2015 the number of enterprises operating in the UK was 573. Enterprises here are defined as VAT registered organisations self-referring as a manufacturer of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations.
