Video transcript

What do you do?

I am a clinical trial specialist apprentice, currently working as a clinical trials assistant for IQVIA.

What attracted you to a career in the pharmaceutical industry?

What attracted me to a career in the pharmaceutical industry is being a part of developing new drugs and also finding new indications for current existing drugs to improve patients' quality of life and find potential cures, as I am currently benefiting from ongoing research with diabetes technology.

Tells us about a typical day

A typical day as a clinical trials assistant in IQVIA involves regular meetings with the study team for different clients, different pharmaceutical companies, filing clinical trials documents in the trial master file, ensuring documents have been signed and filled correctly by site staff and requesting vendor access for site staff. Work remotely at home on my own, but I work with a large team of really helpful people within IQvIA.

Can you tell me about your work experience?

The experience I have is I am a qualified pharmacy technician, having worked as an assistant for eight years and a qualified pharmacy technician for seven. Two of those years in clinical trials pharmacy in big research hospitals in the UK.

How does you business support you?

I have regular one-to-one meetings with my direct line manager. I have a buddy who I can go to if I have any questions about anything I'm unsure of or if I need help with something.

What are you most proud of in your career?

The thing I'm most proud of in my career currently, is starting this apprenticeship.
